LSS and Medupi

When Eskom broke ground at Medupi, the largest power plant under construction in Africa, it determined that it would:

• Create meaningful opportunities for historically disadvantaged individuals and groups, particularly those based in the Lephalale (Waterberg district) area;
• Use the platform of the Eskom project to foster skills transfer and the potential career growth of individuals; and
• Improve service delivery and customer satisfaction levels continuously by speeding up response times to all requests and pro-actively maintaining services and equipment.

Lephalale Site Services (LSS) produces 16 000 meals a day including breakfasts, delivered meals and dinners for the Medupi site and offices. It employs 300 people who offer a range of services that also include catering for functions, cleaning and a village tuck shop.
